Being one of our closest neighbours, Indonesia is one country we Aussies often spend our holiday time perusing. Known for its unbelievably friendly people, tropical paradise beaches, and of course, gorgeous food. This Indonesian Banquet Cooking Class is something truly special. Not only does the class have the chance to learn the intricate details of preparing an authentic Indonesian banquet (“rijsttafel” or “rice table”), but they will be learning from Paul Rast – a Dutch-Indonesian cook who will be sharing the secrets of his Mum and Grandma’s own traditional recipes. Participants will arrive to café-style coffee and a muffin fresh from the oven, to be enjoyed on the veranda of this gorgeous Noosa location. Being an intimate and social atmosphere, students will get the chance to get to know each other before heading into their cooking class. Their hands-on cooking experience will see them creating a delicious rijsttafel made up of: – Peanut sauce covered chicken sate – Mouth-watering beef rendang – Stir fried green beans with a coconut milk sauce – Sumptuous spiced tempeh – Classic nasi goring – Indonesian style cucumber salad – Jasmine rice infused with lemongrass – Black sticky rice with seasonal fruit and coconut cream That’s 8 incredible dishes to learn and master. After all the hard work is done, the students will have a sit down meal with matching wine, where they can enjoy the gorgeous Noosa backdrop and each other’s company. All participants will have the chance to take home a folder full of tips, class notes, fact sheets and of course, the recipes from their Indonesian Banquet Cooking Class so they are more than equipped to recreate this traditional rijsttafel in the comfort of their own home.
