Haloumi has been enjoyed throughout the Middle East and the Mediterranean for centuries – typically made from a mixture of sheep and goats milk, this semi-firm cheese is known for its beautiful texture and ability to retain shape through heat for that incredible steak like experience. Throughout our half-day Haloumi Cheese Making Course, students will instead use cow’s milk and learn how to quickly and simply create delicious haloumi to be enjoyed in numerous ways – not just straight from the fry pan! Participants will arrive and be greeted with their very own “How to Make Haloumi at Home” recipe book, and apron sporting “The Cheese Maker” to take home with them, along with a block of their freshly made haloumi! Students will gain deeper knowledge into the origins of the firm cheese, and be taught different techniques to achieve the haloumi outcome they desire – learning the process in-depth, from beginning to end. Throughout the course of the class, students will enjoy canapes of fresh, uncooked haloumi, as well as cooked in several ways, and champagne to wash it all down. Lunch is also included, where they can dine on their creations and enjoy the company of their new found classmate friends! Their passionate teacher will share loads of creative recipe and canape ideas to ensure students go away feeling excited and inspired to create many different styles from their new found haloumi making skills.
